well, as im not lucky enough to be invited to leipzig, my friend in europe is. Here’s what he thought of what he saw.
“
I was at this year’s Leipzig Games Convention and played Super Mario Galaxy (about 20 min.), Metroid Prime 3: Corruption (about 40 min.), Zack & Wiki (about 20 min.), Phantom Hourglass (about 10 min. and then I realised it indeed sucks ass) and many, many more titles waay before these will be released. But the real pinnacle of this all was meeting Koji Igarashi (Castlevania director since 1997) and Michiru Yamane (Castlevania composer since 1994). I can’t express my feelings back then, but think of it like meeting Shigeru Miyamoto en Koji Kondo on a place where you are actually not supposed to be. The coolest thing was that it just wasn’t merely greeting them and take a picture: no, I really spoke with them – most of the time with Yamane though. She seemed interested in me too, so not just vice versa and eventually both Igarashi and Yamane gave me their phonenumbers and address so I can interview them sometime.

Well.. Since you people are interested in the Nintendo-games I played, here are some notes I made after playing the available games (the cool thing was that the big Nintendo-games, like in the first sentence of this post, weren’t available for ‘normal visitors’. Gheh.) (Pictures)
The Legend of Zelda: Phantom Hourglass
- No worthy sequel to The Wind Waker; stylus often gets in the way; lineair; simple; good graphics
Super Mario Galaxy
- Real and worthy sequel to Super Mario 64; wonderful graphics; awesome environment
Metroid Prime 3: Corruption
- Best graphics on the Wii so far; best controls on the Wii so far (Resident Evil 4 as an exception)
Dewy’s Adventure
- Simple; gay; shouldn’t exist; would be more fun without enemies
Super Paper Mario – (we haven’t got this one in Europe yet)
- Simple, yet fun; hilarious; original
Zack & Wiki
- Point-’n-click-puzzle; different (Capcom); better than expected
Pokémon Revolution
- Repetitive; no revolution at all; forced; no real contact between Pokémon
Dragon Blade: Wrath of Fire
- Very repetitive; limited combo’s
Rayman Raving Rabbids 2: Around the World
- Funny; but worser than the first part
DTM: Create & Race
- Unique; works pretty well; arcade-like; online
Heroes of Mana
- Potential; nice graphics; owns Children of Mana
Guitar Hero III
- Better than previous one; nicer; harder; better timing; battle mode
Mario & Sonic At The Olympic Games
- Too bad Nintendo and Sega meet eachother in THIS game; worser than Dewy’s Adventure; repetitive
Other platforms:
Need For Speed: Pro Street – PS3
- Onbalanced; Need For Speed is worser than ever
Devil May Cry 4 – Xbox360/PS3
- Ownage; favorite game of the floor; Guilty Gear all over again
Heavenly Sword – PS3
- Action not as good as in DMC4; repetitive; no jumping; delicious fightingstyle
Castlevania: Dracula X Chronicles – PSP
- Too bad it’s not for DS; brings back old Castlevania-feeling
Silent Hill Origins – PSP
- Original style; horror-effects remain (even on handheld)
Gran Turismo 5 – PS3
- Best simulation ever; online; demo contained many bugs; incarviews
Final Fantasy Tactics – PSP
- Wonderful animestyle; very promising
Eternal Sonata – Xbox360
- Very Tales Of-like; ‘Time-based-direct-action-battle-system’; freedom
Uncharted – PS3
- Nice; difficult; very realistic; buggy demo
Best stand: Microsoft/Sony
Best Nintendo-game: Metroid Prime 3: Corruption
Best overall game: Devil May Cry 4
Personal Hottest Moments:
1. Meeting Koji Igarashi and Michiru Yamane, and hearing of the announcement of a third Castlevania DS
2. Devil May Cry 4 was orgasmastic
3. Metroid Prime 3: Corruption really surprised
Personal Nottest Moments:
1. Nintendo’s enormous stand, with a few games – most of them casual
2. Mario & Sonic At The Olympic Games is ever worser than the average Mario Party game
3. Castlevania: Aria of Sorrow being ported to mobile phones
